The Old Customs House Next to the Eulengasse, the Old Customs House was built around 1500 AD. Its existence dates back to the rule of the Essen nun over the county of Breisig. The nuns were granted the privilege to charge tolls for the use of the road. For this reason, the toll house was built by the riverside, in addition to the toll stations already established in the wall around Breisig since 1280 (Cologne Gate - North Gate; Koblenz Gate - South Gate). Crooked walls and numerous high water marks on the facade of the beautiful half-timbered house bear witness to its great age. Enjoy cozy evenings in a historic building right on the beautiful Rhine promenade. The atmosphere in the Old Customs House is very cozy and unique. The food is rustic and delicious.
