In Sankt Goarshausen stands the impressive East Tower, also known as the Square Tower. This historic building captivates visitors with its distinctive shape and its location right by the Rhine. It was constructed around 1324, with the establishment of the city wall. In the past, it served as a defense for the upper city gate and was the customs tower of the Counts of Katzenelnbogen until the end of the 15th century.
Today, the historic city tower houses a small but notable collection on wine and local history. It features sparkling and wine glasses as well as wine pitchers made from Westerwald stoneware from three centuries.
