Community of Stamp Friends Linz am Rhein and Surroundings 1954 1954: Founded as ‘Verein der Briefmarkenfreunde Linz am Rhein 1954’ (GdB). The aim of the association is to cultivate and promote high-quality philately. In particular, young collectors are to be encouraged and supported in their high-quality collecting activities. The adult members of the association have the opportunity to expand their philatelic knowledge by exchanging experiences at exchange days and exhibitions. This also includes visits to national exchanges and exhibitions organised by the ‘Bundes Deutscher Philatelisten e.V. (BdPh)’. 1964: 10th anniversary The club had 60 (sixty) members. 1968: Founding of a youth group The association starts publicising events such as stamp exhibitions and major exchange days. 1981: A constitution is adopted and the GdB is entered in the register of associations. 1994: To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the association organises the association conference of the ‘Philatelistenverband Mittelrhein’ in the ‘Bund Deutscher Philatelisten’ in Linz. In the same year, the name was changed to the current association name ‘Gemeinschaft der Briefmarkenfreunde Linz und Umgebung 1954 e.V.’ (Community of Stamp Friends Linz and Surroundings 1954 e.V.) to take account of those who do not live in the Linz city area. 2004: 50th anniversary with a club exhibition and special postmark.
